I went down to the cafeteria today to get a muffin (for all Ministry people not aware, the caf has the most amazing blueberry muffins) and there were some people in line ahead of me talking about the whole STD thing at Hogwarts. Outside of the whole offensive opinion that they didn't know why people were surprised since this generation is mostly twisted anyway, so why is anyone shocked that the school has become a cess pool of hormones and sex (being a semi-recent graduate, I couldn't like that much myself), they did raise a sort of good question -- why isn't there a sex education class or lecture or something for the students?
I know that a lot of people say that sex education is something that parents should be in charge of for their children -- teach them the birds and the bees at their own discretion and let that be that. But, I don't know. Being someone that lost her parents before we were at the age to get a proper "talk", it might have been something that could have been benefited from. That aside, even... we were at the school for nine months out of the year. A lot of those "becoming a woman/man" developments probably came about when they were at school. So, I don't know. Maybe not a whole class, but an evening lecture or something?
Anyway, that's enough of my soap box that was really just a musing platform. I'm not in Hogwarts anymore, I'm fairly in tune with my body/sexuality, and I've never contracted an STD. And, according to the older ladies in the cafeteria, I'm of the minority, so bully for me.

I don't know what's worse. That I take a nap after work almost every evening or that I'm tempted to yell, "Damn kids!" and pound on the wall of my bedroom because the neighbors have the music up too loud for me to actually take said nap.
